People have asked me why the site is called Seeing As I Am. It’s a good question.
The blog title was actually inspired by my favourite quote:
We don’t see things as they are, we see things as we are. Anais Nin
Cool quote isn’t it? And accurate in so many ways once you really think about it.
Also I’m not just a photographer. I’m a registered optometrist with specialist interests in geriatric eye care and visual psychology. So that one quote pretty much pulls together everything that I do!
Whether you’re interested in photography, vision or the quirks of how our brain interprets the world then hopefully you’ll find something to interest you on these pages.
I know I could have set up two separate sites, but each side of my life informs the other so I’ve chosen to combine them. Plus I kind of get to play with lenses, light and psychology in both fields of work …well that’s my excuse and I’m sticking to it.
And in the interests of full disclosure I also love random facts, crisp clean sheets, silly jokes, very dark chocolate, pretty much every sort of cake, and red wine, though not necessarily in that order.
If you think I can help you contact me and we’ll talk.
